How OpenLab Groups Work

Groups are the foundation of the OpenLab system.

Every new OpenLab account is created with a 'Your Lab - general' group for general announcements. Most of our users tend to use this for things like sharing papers, discussing general interest topics, and discussing results or equipment issues with the whole lab.

As such we recommend creating groups for each real-world subgroup you run. For example, your lab may have a nanoparticle synthesis subgroup, and a sensors subgroup. So the easiest way to manage your lab is creating one of each group type, and inviting the relevant people to each!

Finally, we have kept each group private. Privacy is our #1 concern. So you must grant permission to each user for each group.

If you have any trouble at all, please send us feedback or email us directly.
